This is a dish I hear about all the time, but never had. So after enough Food Network one night, I decided I just needed to give this dish a try.
Ingredients
5 cups of water
1 tbs of extra virgin olive oil
1 fresh bay leaf
1 tbs of kosher salt
1 1/2 cups of coarse yellow cornmeal
Directions
In a large saucepan, combine water, oil, bay leaf and salt.
Bring mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
Sift cornmeal into water, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon.
Once added, adjust heat to just a few lazy bubbles.
Constantly stir until the polenta is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
Changes I Made!
I did half water and half milk to the mixtures.
After a few tries I also beat in Gorgonzola cheese into the mixture when it was done.
